Gift of the Drummer Assistant

Status: Non-Exempt, Part-time (10-15 hours/week), Temporary (Positions begins in October and ends December 16, 2016)

Salary: $11-11.50/hr DOE

Job Description:

The primary function of this position is to provide support for the annual Gift of the Drummer campaign that benefits the Refugee Resettlement programs. Will also assist Refugee Resettlement Volunteer Coordinator with maintaining required data.

Responsibilities include:

Assist with the development and logistics for Gift of the Drummer Program.
Provide communication support for the Gift of the Drummer by responding to donors' email and phone inquiries.
Provide clerical support by maintaining information for Gift of the Drummer Program in Excel.
Assign donors to refugee youth clients and document donations in Excel.
Provide logistical support for volunteers assisting with Gif of the Drummer Program.
Organize and coordinate incoming Gift of the Drummer donations in the Refugee Resettlement Share house.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, knowledge and abilities:

Understand the overall strategies of the CCS volunteer program, the refugee resettlement program and the services provided to clients.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and ability to work with diverse groups of people and other community organizations.
Knowledge of grammar, spelling, understanding of verbal and written instructions in English.
Flexibility and ability to perform work quickly and accurately with minimal direction.
Basic word processing and computer skills and proficiency with Excel and operating basic equipment associated with office work, e.g. copier, adding machine, phone, etc.
Availability of an automobile, current Utah drivers' license, clean driving record and 21 years of age or older.
Multicultural sensitivity and demonstrated ability to be courteous to clients and CCS staff.

Education, training and or experience:

High school graduate or equivalent and some office experience.
Knowledge in donation operations; volunteer experience and experience working with volunteers and community organizations.
Must be able to pass a BCI/FBI background check.

Health Services Program Assistant-Swahili/Kirundi/Kinyarwanda/French

Job Description:

Assist Health Services staff with care coordination, scheduling, medical interpretation, and transportation. This position will typically spend at least 50% of working time in the office and up to 50% directly with clients and community partners, particularly health services providers. Assist other programs as required with interpretation, including Job Development, Case Management, and Refugee Foster Care.

Responsibilities include:

Coordinate ongoing medical care for 600 refugee clients per fiscal year. Coordinate with multiple calendars and stakeholders to avoid scheduling conflicts and no-shows at appointments.
Provide interpretation, transportation and related assistance for refugee clients with Health Screening appointments, follow-up primary and specialized care appointments, and throughout our health education curriculum.
Complete all necessary documentation for appointments and services provided including billing forms, case noting, vehicle reporting, etc. accurately and in a timely manner. Assist other programs with interpretation where required, including Job Development, Case Management, Cultural Orientation, and Refugee Foster Care.
Attend regularly scheduled case management and staff meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, knowledge and abilities:

Works well with others and independently in safe, appropriate manner. Demonstrates both problem solving and problem prevention.
Able to be sensitive to the needs of clients, client's families, visitors, co-workers, volunteers and other persons with whom the employee may interact.

Job Description:

Catholic Community Services has an exciting opportunity for a compassionate, committed individual to assist refugees to find employment. The primary function of the position is to help refugees become self-sufficient by assessing, training and orienting them to the employment process.

Responsibilities include:

Participate in assessment of client and conduct pre-employment job readiness workshops as required by regulations of program.
Design employment plan, follow-ups, service integration and agency collaboration to meet the needs of the refugee.
Make contact with public and private sectors for new employment and training opportunities.
Assist clients with application processes and arrange for interviews for employment placement. Provide transportation for interview, orientation and first day of employment.
Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports in compliance with regulations of the program.
Schedule time and interviews for clients that comply with the benchmarks and regulations of program.
Maintain accurate case file documentation.
Cooperate with Case Managers and other CCS staff, State Agencies, and other service providers as necessary, in providing reports, documents and other such paperwork.
Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.

Skills, knowledge and abilities:

Proficiency in computer skills, particularly Excel and Word, to maintain case files, complete documentation, and schedule appointments and correspond using Outlook.
Experience working with other cultures.

Availability of personal automobile for business use and proof of valid, non-probationary Utah driver's license, and required insurance coverage.
Ability to work independently in safe, appropriate manner. Problem solving and problem prevention skills.

Job Description:

Work with refugees providing interpretation, translation, and transportation services for medical appointments, employment assessment, health assessment and other meetings.

Responsibilities include:

Provide professional interpretation in medical or non-medical settings.
Provide transportation to medical appointments on time. Follow the vehicle policy.
Notify refugees of their appointment and keep all appointments.
Translate any written material when asked by CCS case managers.
Keep accurate timesheets and be able to turn them in on time.
Participate in mandatory bi-monthly meetings and notify supervisor of any concern regarding refugee services.
Participate in Bridging the Gap training and other medical interpreter training activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, knowledge and abilities:

Must own a private vehicle, have a driver's license, and possess and maintain a clean driving record.
Must be physically present with client at the time of appointment.
Fluent oral and written ability in English and language being interpreted.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work independently in a safe and appropriate manner with little supervision.
Familiarity with some medical terminology and basic understanding of health care system.

Job Description:

Assist Case Managers, Job Developers, and other RR staff provide the core services for resettlement of new refugee clients. The incumbent is in regular contact with the members of the staff of Refugee Resettlement, Immigration, Refugee Foster Care, and other CCS programs as needed.

Responsibilities include:

Assist the Case Manager with pre-arrival services for the new refugee arrivals.
Provide interpretation and assistance for the refugee client with Health Screening appointments, follow-up for health care, social services and job placement services.
Accountable for all medical Interpretation record keeping and billings and documentations.
Assist the Job Developers in job search, job orientations, on-the-job-training, and troubleshooting.
Attend regularly scheduled case management and staff meetings.
Drive clients safely to assigned appointments.
Deliver items to client's houses.
Other duties as may be assigned.
